• Children at Play

Artist: Peggy Ryan / Blank inside for own message / Size: 176 x 125mm.

Peggy related easily to the spirit of childhood and had a quiet nature - often preferring to observe than to participate in social situations. She made numerous drawings of children, and could search out the essence of a subject in a few incisive impressionistic lines. These would form the starting point of paintings - often on small wooden panels or pieces of cardboard that she had to hand, and always richly textured with paint and jewel-like in colour.
